Classic Narrative Poetry

William Wordsworth, Judith Nicholls, Walter de la Mare & Alfred, Lord Tennyson 

In this unit we will be learning about classic poetry including the poems from famous poets of English literature.

The focus of our learning will be mystery poems.  We will be learning about poetry analysis: how to unlock meaning and mood by discussion of content, language and tone.  In addition, we will be exploring the story and charaters used to create a mystery within the narrative poetry form.

Our writing will include: the use of similes, poetry analysis, charcter profiles, recount and poetry writing.

Children will be learning creatively using drama techniques to access more challenging language in order to develop their understanding of older texts from English Literature.
