Co-ordinating conjunctions

Co-ordinating Conjunctions and Compound Sentences

A compound sentence joins two independent clauses. An independent clause make senses on its own. We can join clauses using co-ordinating conjunctions. The co-ordinating conjunctions are: for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so. You can learn more about them on the BBC Bitesize link below.
