2022-2023 Spelling practise

Weekly spellings link directly to the phonic graphemes being taught in school. Spelling sheets are displayed in this section and should be used to support practise at home to consolidate the learning taking place in school. 

In addition, there is a list of the high frequency words your child should be able to spell independently by the end of each term.

An ideas sheet of practical ways to practise spellings at home is also attached. 

Spellings should be practised daily during the week rather than in one session.  This supports the memory recall of the new spelling patterns.

Spelling checks will take place the following Monday and will combine a mixture of HFW and phonics-based spelling patterns.
