Reading
Well done to everyone with their reading, exploring and learning poetry.
Learning poetry to recite aloud is a key objective of the national curriculum.
Pupils should be taught to:
- maintain positive attitudes to reading and understanding of what they read by:
- learning a wider range of poetry by heart
- preparing poems and plays to read aloud and to perform, showing understanding through intonation, tone and volume so that the meaning is clear to an audience

English Programme of Study
Everyone has learned and performed poems to a very high standard and our poetry recital went very well.
Congratulations to all the children on their excellent interpretations and presentations of their chosen poems.
This half term, to help us prepare for the upcoming SATs in years five and six, we will be reading a range of non-fiction and developing comprehension skills.
