Temporary Teaching Assistant Role (Required from January 2026 – October 2026 or the return of the postholder.)

 

The children, staff and governors are looking to appoint one full-time or two part-time teaching assistants to join our team to support two children with special educational needs on a 1:1 basis. This is an exciting and versatile role with lots of potential for CPD.  The morning responsibility requires working 1:1 with a child in Key Stage 1 with speech and language difficulties.  Delivering the speech and language programme of study and providing targeted assistance to enable them to access the curriculum.

In the afternoons, the successful candidate will support a child in Key Stage 2, focusing on fostering learning, engagement, and personal development through a bespoke curriculum tailored to the individual needs of the student.

This is an ideal opportunity for those interested in starting a career in education and wanting to make a difference in the lives of individual children.  Training will be provided throughout your time at school, and you will be closely supported by both the class teacher and SENCO. 

Our teaching assistants play a vital role in the educational, personal and social development of our children.   It is important that the successful candidates are friendly, hard-working and adaptable. In addition, we are looking for people who can use their own initiative and are excited to join our small and dedicated team.

The successful applicant will:

  • Be a kind, positive and reassuring adult for children at school
  • Be dedicated to supporting children with special educational needs to achieve their academic, physical, social and emotional goals
  • Establish supportive and constructive relationships with children, staff and parents
  • Support learning in 1:1 and small group situations
  • Be committed to whole-school life and be willing to support extra-curricular activities and school events if required
  • Complete relevant training for the role and engage in continuous professional development

These positions are fixed-term contracts that will end on the return of the post-holder.  They are term-time only and the salary quoted is full-time equivalent. If successful, the salary received will be paid on a pro–rata basis.

Working Hours: Monday- Friday: 9:00am –12:30pm  1:30pm- 3:30pm

Essential Qualifications

English & Maths GCSE Grade A-C (or equivalent)

 

       Desirable Qualifications

       TA qualification NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent)

 First Aid Certificate

 

Essential Experience

Experience of working with or caring for primary aged children

 

Desirable Experience

Experience of working in a classroom environment

Experience of working with children with special educational needs
