Words for Life

Words for life include common exception words and high frequency words. Some of these words appear multiple times across the year; this is to ensure they are embedded and become fluent for the children when writing independently.

How to practice:

Triangle Words

Write each word one letter at a time creating a triangle.

Rainbow Words

Write a word and then write over the top of it multiple times in a variety of colours. Remember to join your handwriting.

Look, say, cover, write, check

Look at the word, say it out loud, cover it, write it down with joined handwriting and then check if you were correct.

Spelling Detectives

Hide the words on post-it notes around the house, find the words, hold them in your head then come back to the table to write them.
